Hi I am new here and was attracted by your rather interesting question & your pretty picture of the parsley under the snow!
I had that same experience with my garlic chives and parsley. I think it is because the plain-leaved variety, ( much more hardier), can withstand a much more severe winter.I am in a 5-6 zone,go figure, nature works in mysterious ways!
