Bye, Bye Love:-(

Before I get to this week's gardening post, I want to give you an update on my daughter. She came through the surgery with flying colors. She is understandably crabby but healing well. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers that you all gave to my family during this time. It really helped us to get through. Thank you:-)

This weekend, the weather was beautiful and a perfect time to clean out my veggie garden. So, Bye, bye loves:

Bye, bye basil.
Bye, bye pumpkins.
Bye, bye weeds...oh wait...that is a good one to go:-)


As you can see, I couldn't let go of my parsely yet. I am still using them in soups and stews and such and I haven't started my indoor herbs yet so, he stays. The peppers and the tomatoes still have buds. I did a fair amount of pruning today so, we shall see if I can extend the season just a little bit more. Wishful thinking? Maybe.

    Her hair is naturally that curly!!! God REALLY blessed her with amazing hair. Strangers will come up to her and without asking just touch her hair in awe. (I wrote this on my comments as well.)

    Glad that your daughter had successful surgery - absolutely something to be crabby about :-)

    And I wish I had that gardening bug. I have bought the square foot gardening book. It's lovely on my shelf. I like the ideas of it all. But here I sit...

    Yes, bye bye weeds is a good thing. Now you get to look forward to Spring & replanting (I love having my hands in the dirt!). I don't do a veggie garden, but I was seriously considering an outdoor herb garden.

    I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing well. Surgery is awful...I remember the few that I had & who loves it? I was going to say I hate it, too - but "who loves it" covers it.

    So glad your daughter is well! They recover quickly... she certainly will!

    What a great garden.. I'll have to get some advice from you for next year. I want to start one. This year we've just been hitting the Farmer's Market alot, but next ear I want to plant my own. When should I start it? :)

    I'm so glad the surgery went well. I'm getting ready to prune my basil planet tonight. I think i might dry some and save it for later. I love the smell of fresh basil! YUMMY!

    I'm very bad at putting the garden to bed for the winter. We do have a change of season, but it's so mild that the 'over-wintering' of my youth in the UK is completely irrelevant out here. I will still have roses blooming in December. I will pay dearly for this slovenly, limp wristed approach to gardening with legging, over stretched rose in Spring - but do I ever learn?

    Glad to hear about your daughter.

    I would so love a vegetable garden in my back yard, but alas we have no sun. And I mean NO SUN. We live in a very wooded area.

    I love hearing about other peoples gardens though.
