This weekend, I tackled meeting our Daisy troop out at a Little House on the Prairie outing on one of the local Girl Scout properties. It was cold but the experience was awesome! They got to learn all about how people who forged west in our country lived. There was a blacksmith and rifles and crafts and music and spindling yard and so much more!
Here they are grinding corn that they subsequentally made into Johnny Cakes over an open fire.
We learned that it was a hard but happy life in which everyone relied on each other. We have those pioneers to thank for building our great country:-)

What a cool thing to do. I bet the girls love it.
It looks COLD there!
Schools do such a good job of showcasing those days, I think!
Ok, my school did, at least. I realize in your case, it was through the Girl Scout program. :)
How fun it sure has been cold.. Today was a wild day..
Oh how fun! I love going to visit and learn about places like that. And then I want to live there until I realize just how few creature comforts they had and how hard they had to work just to survive!
I hope I get to take Yaya to learn first hand like this some day. What was the girl's favorite part?
how fun for the troop.
i am soooo thankful for the pioneer women, i could never have survived!
What a wonderful experience for them! I love it when kids get to be outside and actually do something!
Oh how fun!
I'm such a HUGE LHOTP fan, I know I wouldve loved doing that with our girl scout troop.
hope you had a nice day...
Yes..so true. They were hard workers!
And your daughter looks adorable!!!
I went on a similar field trip when I was in school and I loved it, such a simple time and so important for children to learn.
Sounds like so much fun. I miss doing stuff like that. When my Abby is old enough she'll join Brownies I hope.
Happy Thursday..
How fun. I great way to teach a little history lesson.
The teacher in me smiles.
I LOVED Little House on the Prairie. I wish I could take my daughter to the place you went to! It sounds soo cool!
